About the Enhanced Rider Scheme (ERS)

Getbike are included in the Register of Post Test Motorcycle Trainers, suitably qualified to deliver training to current full licence holders and enhance your skills further, ensuring safer riding through minimising the risks associated with planning and machine control.

Who the enhanced rider scheme is for?

The ERS (Enhanced Rider Scheme) introduced by the government is aimed primarily at riders who:

Have recently passed their test
Upgrading to a more powerful machine
Returning to motorcycling after a break
Are looking for an assessment of current skill level and development

What the enhanced rider scheme involves?

Your Getbike instructor will give advice on the basic principles of safety from how to make yourself more visible and create a better presence on the road, how to use the power of the machine in a controlled and safer manner, how to use road positioning to your advantage, how to improve cornering skills, overtaking skills, town riding and filtering and much more…

What happens during the enhanced rider scheme assessment?

ERS is not a pass or fail test. Following an initial assessment of current skill level carefully matched with the rider’s personal needs a rider development plan is devised that concentrates on the specific areas requiring attention, rather than taking a “one size fits all” approach.

The ride will last long enough for your trainer to make an accurate assessment of your needs. For most people this is one to two hours.

If you don’t need any further training?

Getbike have serving and Police trained instructors delivering ERS courses, there is always something we can learn and your personal instructor will ensure you have a value for money full day, and of course, that coveted DSA ERS certificate.

If you do need further training?

If you do need some training, you’ll get your own personalised plan for sharpening your skills. The plan will focus on the areas that’ll help you get more out of your riding.
