Terms and Conditions for Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)

Get Bike Training LTD hereinafter referred to as GBT.

  1. Payments: Course fee must be paid in full in advance.
  2. Licence: Before training commences - the customer must produce a current and valid UK driving licence. New photo style licences means both photo card and paper counterpart. Old style licences are best accompanied by photo ID such as passport or work ID card. Customers wishing to ride anything bigger than a moped must have the correct Provisional Motorcycle Entitlement ‘A’ on there licence. On the new photo card licences – the ‘A’ category will be on the paper counterpart. Photocopies or anything else can not be accepted.
    Only the original documents can be accepted.
  3. Health: If the customer has any medical conditions (including pregnancy) that may prevent the customer from riding a motorcycle – the customer must consult their medical advisor before making the booking. The customer must be able to read a vehicle number plate from 20.5 meters (67 feet). If necessary aided by the use of glasses/contact lenses, which must be worn throughout training.
  4. Minimum ability and knowledge: The customer should be at least able to competently ride a bicycle and have a basic understanding of the Highway Code. Although these are not legal requirements – the lack of ability/knowledge may result in the customer not reaching the required standard at the first attempt.
  5. GBT supplied machines for CBT:
    • a) By default; CBT is carried out on a GBT supplied moped which is included in the standard course fee.
    • b) GBT supplied 125cc motorcycles may be supplied by prior arrangement at an additional cost.
  6. Customer supplied machines for CBT: Customers wishing to use there own machine must bring along proof of insurance, MOT certificate (if applicable), current road tax and displaying L plates front and rear. The Motorcycle must also be in a roadworthy condition.
  7. Clothing: The customer must be appropriately dressed. Ideally jeans and sturdy shoes that will not easily come off. GBT will provide helmet, jacket and gloves.
  8. Attendance: The customer must attend on the agreed day and arrive no later than the agreed registration time.
    Customers arriving after the course has started will be unable to take part in that days course.
  9. Insurance: Customers using GBT machines are comprehensively insured. And there is no excess. Note: This does not include personal injury.
  10. Termination: Customer safety and the safety of GBT staff and the general public is paramount. A customer may have their training terminated if in the opinion of the GBT Instructor the customer;
    • a) Is a danger to themselves or others.
    • b) Will not take instruction.
    • c) Adopts a hostile attitude.
    • d) Fails to complete all of the elements within the time available.
    Justification to terminate is not limited to the examples given and is at the absolute discretion of the GBT Instructor.
  11. Failure to complete the course: If for any reason the customer fails to commence or complete the course to the satisfaction of the GBT Instructor – the customer will be invited to rebook on another day at half the normal cost.
  12. Cancellation and refunds: Full fee refund when GBT is given more than 48 hours notice (excluding Sundays). No refund when GBT is given less than 48 hours notice (excluding Sundays). Notice of cancellation must be confirmed by telephone. The customer is advised to make a note of the date, time and name of the GBT staff member.
  13. Rescheduling:
    • a)Free of charge when GBT is given more than 48 hours notice (excluding Sundays).
    • b) Free of charge if GBT can resell the place.
    • c) Half fee is payable if place is not resold when GBT is given less than 48 hours (excluding Sundays).
    Notice to reschedule must be confirmed by telephone. The customer is advised to make a note of the date, time and name of the GBT staff member.
  14. In the event of mechanical failure of a GBT machine, unavailability of an instructor, or for any other reason that renders GBT unable to complete the course – the customer will be offered another course free of charge.

Customers failing to observe GBT terms and conditions are liable to forfeit the booking fee and may even be refused further training.
